About Us

We don’t want to leave health to chance; we want to actively promote it. That’s why we raise awareness of existing services, fill gaps in care, and develop new ideas and projects together with students.

This includes, for example:

  • Information and guidance on counseling and support services
  • Planning workshops, campaigns, and prevention programs
  • Improving health-promoting structures on campus
  • Involving students in planning and implementation
  • Collaborating with many university departments
In short: We listen, connect, and take action.

Meet the Team

Behind Student Health Management is a small, dedicated team committed to promoting the health of you, our students. It’s important to us to work with you as equals: openly and without red tape. We listen, address the issues that truly matter to you, and work together to develop appropriate solutions.

Luzia Krieg

Position in the SGM:

Coordinator

Responsibilities in the SGM:

  • Planning, implementing, and evaluating health promotion initiatives for students.
  • Developing strategies to promote mental and physical well-being.
  • Communicating with internal and external health partners.
  • Organizing workshops and events on topics such as stress management and healthy eating.

What matters to me in the SGM:

It is particularly important to me that Student Health Management offers all OVGU students a space where mental and physical well-being are promoted. It is important to create a culture in which self-care and mindfulness are just as important as academic success. I want the SGM to be a participatory hub that supports all students in their individual health with a wide range of offerings.

My tip for a healthy student life:

Schedule regular breaks to clear your head.

Important: Stay hydrated!! Water is the real “fuel” for productive learning.

Your personal “reset button” in everyday life?

I sit down with a really good cup of coffee (no phone, no laptop, no music) and just stare into space... Just sitting there and breathing.

What stresses you out more: a full to-do list or an empty coffee cup?

Definitely the empty coffee cup—a little caffeine gives you the energy boost you need to tackle that full to-do list. A structured plan helps you work through your tasks effectively, but without coffee, getting started on those plans can be a bit of a struggle.

Janina Markgraf

Position at SGM:

Marketing and Communications

Responsibilities at SGM:

Everything related to the motto “I’m doing something with media”

What matters to me at SGM:

It’s especially important to me to raise awareness of mental health during college and to destigmatize it. Many challenges often go unnoticed, so I want to help ensure that students can seek support without feeling inhibited or pressured.

My tip for a healthy student life:

Don’t try to handle everything on your own—sometimes talking is more productive than the next to-do list.

Your secret recipe for dealing with stress?

Knitting and reading help me unwind, yoga brings me back into balance, and what helps me most is talking to friends about whatever’s on my mind.

What’s your biggest daily struggle?

Early mornings. I’m still working on our relationship.

Julien Leitel

Position at the SGM:

Sports Center Liaison

Responsibilities at the SGM:

Supporting the many projects, contributing new ideas, and potentially offering different perspectives. Assisting with analysis and evaluation efforts and serving as the direct liaison to the SPOZ. In this context, I also ensure that our sports and exercise programs align with the health needs of our OvGU students.

What matters to me at SGM:

It’s important to me to reach students early on and raise their awareness of their own health before unhealthy habits creep in or even become ingrained. With SGM, we aim to design health programs that are up-to-date, interesting, and relevant to everyday student life. Ideally, students will develop a positive understanding of health and carry this forward into their future professional lives, passing it on to others.

My tip for a healthy college experience:

  • Don’t choose a major that includes statistics as a course.
  • Cake after exams.

Your favorite way to unwind after a long day?

Listening to music loud, chilling out, and going to a soccer game.

What do you do “just for a minute” and suddenly an hour has gone by?

Checking my Insta for You page. My algorithm really delivers there.
